Dave is Vice President of Curriculum for Kaplan Schweser and Director of all Kaplan Schweser CFA seminars worldwide, including the Study Seminar for Financial Analysts (SSFA) at the University of Windsor.  Dave also develops CFA content focusing on the Practice Exams, and assists with content development for two other designations within Kaplan Schweser – CAIA and FRM.  Before the companies were acquired by Kaplan Schweser in 2004, he was a partner with Koppel & Wiley and Excel Exam Review (previously JKE Exam Review).

Dave has over 28 years experience in securities analysis and financial project management, with specific concentration in business valuations, credit risk analysis, and disposition of financially troubled assets.  Dave held various finance positions with Bank One for 12 years.  In 1982 Dave received an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University; and in 1986 he was awarded the CFA designation and is a member of CFA Institute.  As a member of the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth (CFA-DFW), he has served as Education Chair since 1990 and is currently President.  Dave founded CFA-DFW’s Weekly CFA Review Course and Study Program and has directed the program since its inception in 1989.  This weekly program currently serves approximately 350 CFA Candidates per year at three universities in Dallas–Fort Worth.

David joined Verde Apartments as Director of Finance in June 2008, and is involved with financial planning, financing, reporting and special projects.  Prior to joining Verde, he was Finance Manager for Granite Properties where he was involved with financial structuring of debt and equity instruments from underwriting through papering, interest rate hedging, financial modeling and projections, performance benchmarking, credit and special projects.  Prior to joining Granite in 1998, he spent five years with Paragon Group where he was involved with its initial public offering.  He started his career with BDO Seidman as an auditor.  David earned a degree in accounting from University of North Texas, is a Certified Public Accountant and is a CFA charter holder.  He is active with the National MS Society (MS150 Bike Tour), National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF) and has volunteered with the CFA Society of DFW since 1998.

Joe has 29 years of experience in meeting clients’ special needs, as well as those of their business or profession, with special concern and consideration. He began his career in 1982 with Drexel Burnham Lambert, Dallas, TX.  He joined the firm in 2007 as an investment advisor.

Joe is a member of CFA Institute where he has served in a number of leadership roles.  He is a member of the CFA Society of Dallas Ft. Worth, Dallas Business Club, Dallas Estate Planning Council, Leadership Dallas Alumni Association and University of Texas Exes.  Joe is a Series 7 General Securities Registered Representative and Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law Examination Licensed.

Sharon Criswell is the Chief Operating Officer for ALMFirst Financial Advisors, LLC., overseeing operations, accounting, compliance, portfolio analytics, reporting and technology systems.  Prior to joining ALM First, Sharon managed investment operations for The Associates (now Citigroup) and before that managed the Money Market Information Center for Fidelity Investment.  Sharon Criswell has a MBA from Southern Methodist University, an MLS from Rutgers-the State University and a BA from Syracuse University.

Julia Cunningham joined Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in 2000 where she currently works in Bankruptcy Services.  In prior roles at Deloitte, she has assisted clients with various financial efforts including valuing assets, estimating lost profits, and investigating and resolving forensic accounting issues. Prior to joining Deloitte, Julia worked for American Airlines in a variety of capacities and as a consultant with Touche Ross in Dallas and Los Angeles. She earned her BA from Wellesley College and an MBA from the University of Texas. Julia has been active with the local society since 2000. She also serves as a CFA exam grader and has served as a volunteer on the CFA Institute Council of Examiners (COE).

Ben joined Caprock Capital in 2010 and is the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer. Currently Ben leads the firm’s investment committee in investment decisions including: strategic/tactical asset allocation, investment manager due diligence, security selection and portfolio recommendations. Ben researches and reviews potential investments across the entire investment spectrum: including fixed income, domestic/international equity, and alternative investments – ranging from hedge funds, private equity and private, unique opportunities. In addition, Ben is currently an adjunct graduate finance professor at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Prior to joining Caprock Capital, Ben was a managing director and portfolio manager with Cimarron Asset Management, LLC from 2003 to 2010.  From 2002 to 2003, he was an equity research analyst with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. He earned his MS and BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Florence Huang is a Senior Research Analyst with Luminant Energy, supporting financial trading of natural gas.  Her responsibilities include researching macro economic factors, performing intelligence analysis on fundamental natural gas market through model calibrating, building supply outlook and price projections, the result of which would be applied to corporate decision making regarding cross commodity hedging and asset evaluation.  Prior to Luminant Energy, she was a Commodity Structurer with Sempra Energy between 2005 and 2007, where she structured the electricity products and closed multi million dollar deals for industry and commercial clients through option-embedded structured transactions.  Ms. Huang was a Senior Analyst in Risk Oversight with American Electric Power between 2001 and 2003, where she managed proprietary trading portfolio risk of various energy commodities, and endorsed long term derivative contracts related to power purchase agreement.  Ms. Huang started her energy career as an Associate of Strategy and Valuation with Coral Energy (subsidiary of Shell) in 1998, during which time she was primarily involved in the merger & acquisition analysis for power generation assets.  Ms. Huang received her MBA from C.T.BauerCollege of Business at University of Houston in 1998 and her BBA from Finance and Banking Institute of China in Beijing.  Ms. Huang is an active member of varies professional associations.  She is a FRM (Financial Risk Manager-Certified by GARP, November 2003) and CFA charter holder.

Lisa McDaniel, CFA

Lisa McDaniel serves as a Financial Advisor for ALM First Financial Advisors. In this role, she reviews the asset/liability structure of client credit unions’ portfolios, and develops and executes strategies that maximize value while carefully managing risk. She also is responsible for providing economic commentary and writing the quarterly economic outlook for the firm and its clients. In addition, Ms. McDaniel serves as portfolio manager for the firm’s total return accounts, which provides investment management on a discretionary basis. 

Ms. McDaniel has more than 18 years of experience in fixed-income analysis and investment portfolio management. Prior to joining ALM First, she was a vice president with Regions Bank Capital Management Group. While there, she managed institutional taxable, fixed-income accounts and collective funds consisting of government, corporate and mortgage-backed securities. Ms. McDaniel also had direct responsibility for managing more than $1 billion in assets, and served as a committee member, developing macro-level investment and fixed-income strategies. In addition, she performed oversight duties for the company and managed individual accounts for high-net-worth individuals and corporations.

Dan is the founder and Managing Partner for Trinity Advisors, LP., a private equity services firm.  Prior to starting Trinity Advisors, LP in 1999, Dan was with Tara Capital Partners, a hedge fund in Dallas, which specialized in both public and private equity investments. From 1987 to 1997, Mr. Meader worked for Sowell & Co., a mid-sized leveraged buyout firm based in Dallas.  A graduate of SMU, he earned his CFA designation in 1991 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1998. Dan also serves as the chair of the President’s Council CFA Institute and lectures to investment professionals on equity valuation derivatives and accounting matters.

Paul F. Olschwanger is the Director of Business Development at Adelante Capital Management LLC, a California based investment manager, specializing in public real estate securities.  Since 1995, Adelante's team of investment professionals have created and managed portfolios of domestic REITs and in 2006, expanded its reach beyond the U.S. and began investing real estate securities globally.  Prior to joining Adelante, Paul ran his own executive search, career coaching and organizational consulting firm for the past 12 years, focusing exclusively within the investment management industry.  The firm completed over 100 search assignments and coached over 50 investment professionals throughout the U.S.  Prior to establishing Olschwanger Partners, Paul held senior sales positions with a variety of money managers, including John Hancock and Fidelity.  Olschwanger is a long-time and active Board Member of the CFA Society of DFW, member of the CFA Institute and a Certified Berkman Consultant.  He has been a frequent speaker around the country focusing on career development issues within the investment management industry.  Paul graduated with a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and completed the first AIMSE Institute at Wharton.

Linda Y. Tse is Fund Controller with Capital Analytics, a subsidiary of the Private Fund Investment Group of Neuberger Berman Investment Management Firm (part of prior Lehman Brothers Investment Management Division), where she supervises fund accounting professionals to provide financial reporting and transaction management services to two real estate mezzanine investment funds with approximately $1.3 billion and $0.7 billion of equity capital respectively, deployed across 69 investments. She is also involved with reviewing investment valuation and ensuring integrity of financial reporting for the real estate investments. In addition, Ms. Tse assists with the financial reporting for two merchant banking funds with $1.2 billion and $2.6 billion equity capital respectively.

Ms. Tse earned her CFA designation in 2007 and CPA designation in 2002. As a member of the CFA Institute and CFA-DFW Society, Linda volunteered to join University Relations Committee and led several CFA designation promotion seminars held at various business schools which were well received. Ms. Tse has an MPA from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Economics from Xiamen University, China.

Gary joined Luther King Capital Management in 1994.  He is a Principal, Portfolio Manager and is responsible for the firm's investments in the telecommunications industry.  Prior to joining LKCM, Gary worked with the Dexter Corporation in Connecticut and with Arthur Andersen in Dallas.  Gary earned a BBA from SMU and an MBA with honors from TCU.  He has been an adjunct professor at TCU, teaching Securities Analysis at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and was a founding member of TCU's MBA Alumni Advisory Board.  Gary is a Trustee at Cook Children's Hospital and is a member of SMU's Buy-Side Club Advisory Board.  He has been active with the local society since earning his CFA designation in 1997.
