Mr. Jacobs has loved Wall Street and markets since college when he installed a ticker tape machine in his dorm room in order to trade and invest his student loans before attending University of Wisconsin's School of Business. Mr. Jacobs enjoyed a 17 year sell-side career which included positions as equity coordinator, head of sales and relationship management, syndicate director and positions on operating and management committees for Wessels Arnold and Henderson and Thomas Weisel Partners. Jay was a founding partner for both investment banks.
In 2001, Mr. Jacobs began a 12 year buy-side career managing Thomas Weisel Asset Management including managing TWP’s liquid alternative investment platform and portfolio manager for a proprietary alternative investment fund for CalPERS’ AIM team. Mr. Jacobs left TWP in 2004 to launch Crossover Venture Partners where he managed a long/short post-venture fund while working with Stanford University on post-venture distributions in kind.
In 2008, Mr. Jacobs became Chairman and founding partner for Tailor Research which utilizes algorithms and crowd sourcing technology to generate unique and high value add information for sophisticated investors. Tailor Research is currently in discussions to be acquired. Today, Jay works with ConvergEX Prime as Director of Alternative Mutual Fund Services where he assists best in class alternative investment platforms and large mutual fund companies in launching and growing 1940 Act alternative mutual funds.
John Del Vecchio, CFA - Portfolio Manager/Principal, Ranger Equity Bear ETF and Forensic Accounting ETF
John Del Vecchio, CFA, is the creator of the Del Vecchio Earnings Quality Index, which is tracked by the Forensic Accounting ETF (FLAG). He is also the co-founder and co-manager of the Ranger Equity Bear ETF (HDGE), an actively managed exchange-traded fund dedicated to shorting individual stocks with fundamental red flags. John is the author of the book, "What’s Behind The Numbers? A Guide to Exposing Financial Chicanery and Avoiding Huge Losses In Your Portfolio." Published by McGraw-Hill, "What’s Behind The Numbers?" was rated the Number One book for 2013 by Stock Trader’s Almanac. Previously, John managed a short only hedge fund for Ranger Alternative Management, L.P. In addition, he has worked for well-known short seller David Tice and famed forensic accountant Dr. Howard Schilit.
Mr. Del Vecchio earned a B.S. in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Bryant College, and was awarded Beta Gamma Sigma honors. Mr. Del Vecchio earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in September, 2001.
Chad Greenberg, CPA/PFS, Senior Vice President, 361 Capital
Chad Greenberg serves as a Senior Vice President in the Advisor Division at 361 Capital. His responsibilities include Advisor relationship management, product distribution, and business development. Mr. Greenberg brings more than 15 years of experience in both the financial services and business development disciplines. He is a licensed CPA as well as a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a designation awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to those CPAs who specialize in providing estate, tax, retirement, risk management and investment planning advice to individuals and closely held entities.
Prior to joining 361 Capital, Mr. Greenberg was a co-founder and Vice President of one of the nation’s largest qualified intermediaries for 1031 exchanges where he was instrumental in growing the business from start-up to industry leader, which resulted in the sale of the company. Concurrently, he co-founded an Internet start-up focused on solving the needs of the real estate investor community. Prior to his start-up experience, Mr. Greenberg spent more than ten years in the tax and investment advisory industry, where he managed a portfolio for high-net-worth and qualified retirement plan clients.
Mr. Greenberg graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Colorado Society of CPAs.
Thad Teaford, CFA, Portfolio Manager of Event-Driven Group, Partner, Carlson Capital
Mr. Teaford joined Carlson Capital in 2001 as an analyst for the event-driven strategy. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as an analyst in the merger & acquisitions division of Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York. Mr. Teaford received a B.B.A in finance from Texas Christian University and served as the chief administrator for the William C. Connor Foundation’s student-run Educational Investment Fund.
Nowlin Randolph, CFA, CAIA, Managing Director, Head of Research, Crestline Investors
Nowlin Randolph, CFA, CAIA, Managing Director, Head of Research, joined Crestline Investors in 2002. Mr. Randolph is a member of the Investment Committee and manages the research process reviewing new and existing funds. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Randolph co-managed a long/short equities portfolio for the Perot Group. He was also responsible for researching and investing in hedge fund managers, and worked on positions with the equity arbitrage and private equity teams. Before that he worked for a large Southern bank.
He has a B.A. with honors from Sewanee. Mr. Randolph is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
Philip J. Durst, CFA - Managing Director, Investments, Tolleson Wealth Management
Philip J. Durst serves as Managing Director – Investments for Tolleson Wealth Management. His responsibilities include the comprehensive oversight and execution of our firm’s investment research process, asset allocation, manager selection/retention, and overall portfolio management. In addition, Philip serves on the firm’s Investment Committee, is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, which oversees the strategic and operational matters of the entire firm and is a member of Tolleson Private Wealth Management’s Management Committee, which sets the strategic direction of all wealth management initiatives for the firm.
Prior to joining Tolleson Wealth Management, Philip worked within the Investment Management divisions of both INVESCO and John McStay Investment Counsel in Dallas. In these roles, he was directly responsible for identifying investment opportunities in support of their fundamental approach to managing institutional capital, in both core and income-oriented portfolios, focused on the REIT equity and preferred securities markets. In addition, Philip has worked within the internal hedge fund and private equity divisions of a large publicly held company. Within these roles, he was responsible for both identifying and executing paired equity investments in publicly traded energy technology companies, and evaluating mid- to late-stage venture capital investments in private energy technology companies.
Philip earned a M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of North Texas. He is a Certified Public Accountant* (CPA) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
Nick Colas, Chief Market Strategist, ConvergEx Group
Mr. Colas joined ConvergEx Group in 2006 and also serves as the Director of Research for Jaywalk, the independent equity research consultancy of ConvergEx Group. Before joining ConvergEx, Mr. Colas spent three years at Rochdale Securities, LLC, a provider of brokerage and independent research services, where he founded the equity research team and was responsible for the development of the firm's proprietary valuation model. Prior to his tenure at Rochdale, Mr. Colas served as a portfolio manager at SAC Capital and Silver Capital Management. Earlier in his career, he was a senior equity analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Colas holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Haverford College.
