  1. What education courses does the society offer?
  1. What is the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth?
    The CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth is an organization of investment and financial professionals holding the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.  Currently there are approximately 1250 members in the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth. 
     
  2. How do I become a Financial/Security Analyst?
    The typical path for a career as a Financial/Security Analyst is through a combination of higher education and working in the field.  Often, a financial or securities analyst has an undergraduate degree in business, economics or a related field and may also have a masters degree.  Some obtain an internship with a corporation and/or a investment/brokerage firm.   
     
  3. How do I get the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation?
    The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation requires the completion of 3 levels of exams and fulfilling an experience requirement.  The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation is one of the fastest growing professional credentials in the world and is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of investment professionals.  For detailed information, refer to the CFA Institute's website.
     
  4. How do I become a member of the CFA Society of Dallas-Forth Worth?
    Member requirements can be found on the "Member Information" page/tab on this website.   

    If I become a member of the CFA Institute, do I automatically become a member of the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth?
    If you become a member of the CFA Institute, you do not automatically become a member of the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth.  However, you can easily apply for membership in our local society at the same time that you apply for membership in the CFA Institute.

  5. What are some of the benefits of becoming a member?
    Member benefits include regularly scheduled meetings September to May:  Corporate programs,  Educational programs, Social events, Networking opportunities, Annual Forecast Dinner, and Golf Tournament -- to name a few. 
     
  6. Does the society have a student membership?
    The society currently only has affiliate and regular memberships and you do not need to complete your CFA exams before applying for membership.  The CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth is also looking into the creation of a student membership.  However, there is not one available currently.
     
  7. How much does membership cost?
    Local society dues for the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth is currently $100.00 per year.

  8. Who can sponsor me for membership?
    There should be two individuals to sponsor you for membership.  One of these sponsors should be a current member of the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth and one should be your immediate supervisor.
     
  9. How do I notify the society of a change of address?
    The CFA Institute can be notified of a change of address, or any other pertinent contact information.  The member can go on the website and make the change themselves.  The CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth will receive notification of this change.
     
  10. Can I transfer my membership to or from another society?
    Yes, membership can be transferred to or from another society.  The CFA Institute can handle this for you.
     
  11. Is there another society located near me?
    The closest societies to the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth are the CFA Society of Austin, the CFA Society of San Antonio and the Houston Society of Financial Analysts.
     
  12. I am a member. How can I become more involved with my society?
    There are many volunteer opportunities for members who wish to become more involved.  Contact information for the Volunteer Coordinator on the society's board can be found under the Leadership page/tab of the website.  Members can also approach anyone on the Program Committee at any program event and alert them of interest in serving.  This information will then be given to the Volunteer Coordinator.

    Upcoming programs can be found either by clicking on the "Events Calendar" tab or by going to Upcoming Events on this website.

  14. Where are the programs held? What time?  How much do they cost?
    Programs are held in various locations, either during the noon hour or after work.  Many of the regularly scheduled programs are held at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas or at the Hilton Park Cities near the Tollway and Loop 12 in Dallas.  However, events can also be scheduled on a campus, at a sponsor site, or at another location in downtown Dallas or Fort Worth.   Many events are at no cost for members.  However, some programs, especially those during the lunch hour may be at a cost that covers at least a portion of the society's cost for the room and the food.  These are usually billed at $20 -$25 for members and $30 -$35 for guests.  Some events might require registration and/or payment in advance.  Current events can be found at the "Events Calendar" tab/page on this website.
     
  15. What education courses does the society offer?
    The CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth is an Approved Provider and as such offers 1 hour credit for educational programs that automatically are entered into the member's Professional Diary at the CFA Institute.  There is also a CFA Study Course and Review Program for candidates.  Information can be found at the "CFA Study Course" tab/page on this website.   
     
  16. Does the society have job listings?
    Job listings can be found on the "Job Bank" tab/page on this website.  There is also a link to the CFA Institute's Jobline.
     
  17. Can I send the society my resume to keep on file?
    The society does not keep member resumes. 
     
  18. I am an employer. How can I find a qualified CFA Charterholder?
    Putting any job posting on the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth's website would be a good place to indicate an interest in finding a qualified CFA Charterholder.  Contact our Job Placement Liaison or any other of the members of the society's board found under the Leadership page/tab of this website.
